Global Harmonized System (GHS) Training Available from Pro-Link Distributors

Canton, MA – April 2, 2013 - Pro-Link, a national jan/san buying and marketing group based in Canton, Massachusetts, recently developed training materials on OSHA’s new Global Harmonized System (GHS) hazard communications (HazCom) standard. The materials were made available to Pro-Link distributors to help their customers meet the OSHA mandated training deadline of December 1, 2013.
chemicalsiconGHS adds new labeling and classification requirements for any hazardous chemical. In the simplest terms, it is a change from words to pictures (called pictograms), and consistent terminology of hazards to facilitate understanding by workers. These new requirements are particularly helpful for facilities with a diverse workforce with a wide range of literacy levels and languages. In addition, a standardized safety data sheet (SDS) replaces the material safety data sheets (MSDS’s) to reduce confusion for workers, as all SDSs mustconfusionicon present the same information in the same order.
Pro-Link’s GHS training makes it easy for facilities to be OSHA HazCom compliant. Courses are available to meet any need for both employees and supervisors who must the train the employees. For example, Pro-Link’s courses provide training on the GHS requirements only, training on HazCom with the GHS requirements, and training on personal protective equipment (PPE). In addition to the presentations, Pro-Link distributors can provide their customers attendance sheets, quizzes and certificates for their record keeping.
Improving an employee’s understanding of the hazards they may encounter in their workplace makes a facility safer. With Pro-Link’s HazCom training, a facility can move from the right to know, to the right to know and understand.
